At 58, Carlos realised something uncomfortable:
he had been working for 30 years, had good income, and still didn’t know if he could retire.

A specialist doctor with his own practice in Zaragoza. Solid income, accumulated savings. But no structured plan for what was coming.

His situation when he came to Quality Finance:

  • €420,000 spread across deposits, funds and a pension plan — no clear strategy
  • Owned property and a holiday home (mortgage-free)
  • Irregular contributions as self-employed during the first 10 years of his career
  • Goal: maintain €4,000 net per month without touching his property assets

His biggest fear was running out of money at 75 and depending on his children.

He had spoken with his bank. They offered him a house pension plan and a guaranteed fund. That wasn’t what he needed.

A patient who was already a client recommended us:

“They don’t sell you anything. They actually run the numbers.”

¿Qué hicimos juntos?

  • We calculated his real estimated pension: With his mixed contribution history (self-employed + general scheme), his state pension would be around €1,800 gross. That left a monthly gap of over €2,000 that his wealth had to cover for 25–30 years.
  • We structured his wealth in layers: Layer 1 (liquidity, 2 years of expenses): short-term fixed income. Layer 2 (income, 5–10 year horizon): defensive mixed funds with periodic distribution. Layer 3 (growth, long-term): globally diversified equities to preserve purchasing power against inflation.
  • We optimised the tax impact of withdrawals: We planned the pension plan withdrawals in annual tranches to avoid income tax bracket jumps, and defined the optimal order of drawdown across the different savings vehicles. Estimated tax saving: over €18,000 in the first five years of retirement.

Carlos retired at 62. Today he receives €4,100 net per month combining his state pension and portfolio returns, with a wealth that continues to grow in real terms. For the first time in years, the future no longer causes him anxiety.
